Retreat Focus
This retreat is calling for women who long to be in a beautiful natural setting, and who want to slow down and explore the abundance that a welcoming community and the natural world can offer to us. During this retreat we will spend time focusing on the simple luxuries of grounding our bodies by forest bathing, sitting in circle together, deliberate movement, intentionally opening our senses to our food while forming quality connections during our meal times. And of course, the luxury of being with the beauty of a autumnal ocean.
Women are often expected to give to others in ways that can leave us drained and exhausted. This retreat will allow us time for reflection about our nuanced connections to ourselves and the elements so we can open more to the offerings that are available to us. When we are nourished we can then decide how to best offer up the love and care our communities and our word need.
The structure of this retreat will be a fluid balance between unscheduled activities~ self reflection, journaling, art making, walks, Epsom salt baths, naps, visits to the ocean and scheduled activities - meals, doll making, elemental altar building and ritual. All scheduled and unscheduled activities are optional with the the strong encouragement to ask your self in every moment, what would bring me pleasure right now?
This retreat space has a simple communal design (private beds but most in shared settings and several beds located inside screened porches) that naturally invites strong connections among participants and with the beautiful pine forest it is set in. This will also require us to practice negotiating boundaries in ways that allow the profound and often unexplored joy of asking for what we need. There will be designated areas for folks to go to when they want solitude and quiet reflection and ways to identify folks who would like to be in silence.
Retreat Setting
Carrabelle Beach is in the Forgotten Coast area of the panhandle/western coast of Florida. This area is largely undeveloped with no high rises, night life, or neon signs ensuring there is very little light pollution, crowds, or traffic. There is plenty of wildlife with an array of birds, dolphins, and other sea creatures and the clear night sky is stunning! The facility for this retreat, Seaforest Sanctuary, is nestled in a pine forest just a 5-minute walk to the Gulf of Mexico. A red fox has recently been spotted from the large screened in porch of the retreat center and the historic Crooked River Lighthouse is close enough to Seaforest Sanctuary for its protective beam to gently sweep over the premises. All of this creates a unique and beautiful setting for your retreat.
